What class would my car be in(Scion FRS). I can't decide if it is STX or ST, of street perpared. Basically it is stock besides some headers and and a catback, with stock wheels and tires(Lolololololol, I am going to lose so hard).

I believe STX since my friend's GC 2.5RS has some headers and catback along with stock everything-else and runs STX.

Stock class is a game of sticky tires. Back when I autoxed the metro it was in H Stock (the slowest). In the STL region there was a stock mazda3 sedan and a nationals competitive mini. The 3 was always about 2-3 seconds faster and the mini 5-8 seconds. ALWAYS! Except one event where the mini didn't show up and new street tires for the 3, which I beat him by a few tenths or hundredths. My only win that whole season.

I drove the piss out of that car and basically took it as far as it could go with what I had. I broke 2 bolts on a motor mount sometime, lucky the this held until I figured it out and I retired the metro as it's my daily driver and I can't afford to lose work because of that. Granted the car already had about 200K on the odometer, so it wasn't just the autox.

Learn driving lines, correct corner exit, setup for flowing through the course. Have fun!

Eh, I've stopped caring if I win or not, I'm just out there to have fun and become a better aggressive driver.

Yup same here, I am just trying to get faster and these tires are really holding me back. Soon though, I shall have some summer wheels!

Next-gen Dunlop Z2 Star Specs are due to hit in the Fall if you wait long enough. The local STX BRZ car is running on the current-gen Dunlop Z2's for DD and auto-x purposes and they've been holding up just fine and he's predicting an expected lifespan of 25k miles. Otherwise avoid the BFG Rivals unless you want a scary ride each time it rains.

I was thinking about some Michelin Pilot Super Sprts for DD/Autox duties. They seem to last around 30 to 40 thousand miles and they are pretty sticky. Although they do get greasy when hot. How are Dunlops for all out grip.? Also rain driving cause I will have to do a lot of that.

I've ridden in that BRZ once at a fast autocross course, pretty great grip at speed and more than enough to be very competitive. It's apparently great in the rain because he drives across SC regular for his job and doesn't care if it's snow, rain, or sun.

They will definitely be on the list then. The tires I get will all come down to price. I know Costco has deals on Michelin tires sometimes, if you get a set of 4, mounting is free and you get some dollars off as well.
